Collectors Foundation: Protecting the Future of the Hobby
When NBC Tonight Show host and classic car aficionado Jay Leno challenged fellow hobbyists to think about future generations, Hagerty answered the call by creating the nonprofit Collectors Foundation in 2005. The youth-focused organization has been sowing seeds ever since.

What began as a dream to open a car museum turned into much more for a group of Montana hobbyists. After discovering that Missoula County Public Schools no longer offered auto shop courses, Alan Ault and some friends formed Montana Automotive Technologies. And since 2005, the volunteers have mentored high school automotive students and helped teach secretarial and automotive skills to single mothers and recently-incarcerated individuals.

National Club Spotlight: CCCA Sees the Advantage of Youth Involvement
The prestigious Classic Car Club of America is discovering the importance of passing the hobby on to young people. David Schultz, head of the CCCA’s public relations and nominations committees, said members are realizing they won’t be around forever, and “Who’s going to enjoy these cars – or buy them – when (we’re) gone?”

Put Our Free Pamphlets to Work!
Working with car clubs on a daily basis has given us the opportunity to see just how unique each one is. A common factor that binds all clubs, however, is that members want to learn more about the hobby they love, and club presidents want to provide them with solid, useful information at their monthly meetings.
One way to accomplish this goal is by taking advantage of the free educational pamphlets offered on Car Club Central. With more than twenty topics ranging from "Protecting Your Car Against the Elements" to "Ten Tips for Great Automotive Photography" you will find valuable content for your meetings.
Do you have a meeting tip to share with fellow clubs? Email us at clubmarketing@hagerty.com

Nebraska restorer reaches out to youth
Doug Kileian doesn’t have any children of his own, but he does have a heart for youth – and the collector car hobby. Since 1990, Kileian has mentored 55 young men in his Nebraska auto restoration shop. Many of them have remained in the business; some have even opened shops of their own.

At Hagerty, our goal is to support car clubs any way we can. We recently heard from a club member with an interesting request:
"Hello Hagerty, my name is Linda Shaffer and I am the Vice President of the Model A club in Pinellas County, Florida. We have over 150 members and are a club that enjoys driving our cars more than trying to win trophies. We have monthly local tours, and a few times a year we venture further out of the area. It is a lot of fun! I have not been driving a model A for long, but I enjoy the hobby and I am learning to do the repairs on the car myself. Each month at our meetings we have programs, and I am looking for information about the 'Tin Can Tourist.' If you know where I can get a DVD on this I would appreciate it, or if you have any program ideas let me know."
We did some digging and found what Linda was looking for. Check out this video of "The Tin Can Tourist," a 1937 cartoon.
If there's something we can do for your club or if you have feedback to share, please let us know by sending an e-mail to clubmarketing@hagerty.com.
